You will wear a work of art on your body
Japanese tattoos are more than just a style; they're a complete narrative about your strength, your battles, and your worldview. It's about choosing to make your body a place where mythology, nature, and character coexist.
At Avantgarde Tattoo, we take care of every detail so that your design breathes balance, movement, and symbolism, respecting the essence of traditional irezumi and adapting it to your identity.

Our artists specialize in Japanese tattoos
BRIAN ROJAS - Preferred styles: Neotraditional, traditional and blackwork
Avantgarde Tattoo Resident
Brian is one of the artists who best masters the language of traditional and neo-traditional tattooing in the studio. His philosophy is based on creating pieces that "embrace" the body: full sleeves, backs, and chests where animals, flowers, and dynamic backgrounds coexist. He especially enjoys:
- Large compositions featuring dragons and koi
- High-contrast pieces of masks and samurai
- Fusions between traditional Western and Japanese resources
Monochrome - Preferred styles: Blackwork, geometric, and dotwork
Avantgarde Tattoo Resident
Monochrome works with black ink tattoos, employing a strong graphic approach that allows for a reinterpretation of the Japanese style in black and grey without losing its symbolic power. Each piece is designed so that the flow of waves, clouds, and wind adapts to the body's movement, something essential in the Japanese style.
- Wave and wind backgrounds (kaze, nami) in black and gray
- Minimalist pieces of flowers, snakes, and mythological creatures
- Half-sleeve and back projects with a graphic focus
KARINA - Preferred styles: Botanical, ornamental and realism applied to Japanese
Avantgarde Tattoo Resident
Karina excels in floral, ornamental, and realistic work, ideal for those seeking Japanese flowers (sakura, chrysanthemums, peonies) . She likes petals, leaves, and decorative elements to follow the natural curves of the body, something that stands out in her large Japanese tattoos.
- Floral sleeves with waves and wind
- Combinations of flowers and animals (koi, tigers, dragons)
- Pieces that blend ornamentation and resources of the traditional irezumi
GUEST ARTISTS - Preferred styles: Irezumi and large projects
Avantgarde Tattoo Resident
In addition to our resident team, Avantgarde Tattoo regularly invites international tattoo artists specializing in specific styles, including Japanese tattooing. These guest artists join the team temporarily so you can book your irezumi project without leaving Barcelona.

Traditional Japanese tattooing, known as irezumi or horimono, is a form of body art with centuries of history.
Its origins can be traced back to ritual and social status uses, passing through a stage of penal tattooing during the Edo period, where the marks identified criminals.
Over time, irezumi evolved into a narrative art linked to ukiyo-e prints: large compositions filled with dragons, koi carp, tigers, flowers, and deities that covered large areas of the body.
Today, Japanese tattooing has become one of the most admired styles in the world for its visual power, symbolism, and ability to adapt to the body as if it were armor or a second skin.

I got a tattoo and two piercings at this studio, and everyone was so friendly. Fulvio, a super nice guy known as "Monochrome," did my tattoo—he's an amazing artist! He listens and guides you every step of the way, and I'm so grateful for his patience. I left there thrilled and in love with my new tattoo, and I'll definitely be back for another one. Angela did my piercings; she's a sweetheart. I was super nervous, but it didn't hurt at all. A few months later, I was worried about one of them because it looked like it had gotten infected, and she took care of it right away and told me everything. Now everything is perfect! They're both fantastic artists, and I recommend them 100%! 👌Published on Google Joana BorregaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I adore the service and the tattoos! The whole experience was great, from the service at reception to the tattoo artist Pink, who was wonderful and super friendly. Since it was my partner's first tattoo, she was very careful. I went to the studio and had an amazing experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere is super clean, organized, and welcoming; you can see the care in every detail. Fernanda (Pink Becker) did my tattoo, and honestly… what a light touch! Besides being extremely talented, she has a very special sensitivity for understanding exactly what you want. I felt very safe throughout the entire process because she explains everything, answers questions, and makes you feel very comfortable. The result was simply perfect, much more beautiful than I imagined. You can tell she truly loves what she does. I would definitely go back and recommend her without hesitation!Published on Google Victoria ViergeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I went yesterday afternoon to get my eyebrow pierced and my sister got her nipple pierced. The girl who did our piercing (whose name I can't remember 🥲) was super friendly and kind. My sister was a little nervous, but she really put us at ease. Everything was very clean and professional. If I ever need another piercing, I know where to go back 😊Published on Google Diego Badr MarañaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 100% recommended. First time in 20 years that I had to look for another tattoo artist, but they made the whole process easy and smooth from the very first walk-in. Very professional handling the booking and appointment, and the tattoo artist Betto was super friendly and did an amazing job throughout the entire 4-5 hour session, making sure that every single detail of what I had designed was done in the exact same way. Extra kudos to him as both tattooed pieces healed incredibly well, which confirms his great technique. I will definitely be coming back here for whatever tattoo comes next!Published on Google Yago Garcia RubioTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
